Leo Bassi wants to execute old God. I believe so, here in Grenland, the pond of ducks (andedammen). Tomorrow, Saturnusday. In the performance Utopia the white clown's force is re-assembled. This sacred icon has been tortured in our minds by the multi-national company McDonalds. Ronald McDonald is a misuse of the iconic force comparable with the perversion of the swastika, and symbolism. After dwelling with the Wild Duck production of the Vinge, Müller and Reynholdsen company (off off off Ibsenfestival) in Volksbühne im Prater, Berlin for 360 hours non-stop in May, I feel justified in telling that artistic symbolism is back. Well, not so that we, culturally speaking, have been out of it. Advertisement is all about it. But, the artist community has let the Public Relation industry of the corporate world hold the upper hand for the last 60 years. The speech of Leo Bassi at  meeting point (møtepunkt) on the third day of the festival, I believe, confirms this argument. Tomorrow, when the sun peaks in the sky, or shortly thereafter, an unbelievable event will take place. The performance I saw yesterday, after seeing Call me Maria, is not finnished. A wild Duck will execute old God. I'm curious about the margins of Leo Bassi's mind. Is he aware of the impact he's about to cause in me? Of course not, I'm compelled to say. I don't know.
